The housing
Tightly packed small-lot housing: surviving mid-century cottages, a lot of 1980s and 1990s replacements, and newer elevated builds squeezed onto the same footprints. Vinyl siding is the norm, with PVC trim on the newer work.
The exposure
Narrow island, close-set houses, and shade from both the buildings and the older plantings between them. It holds damp longer than its neighbours to the north, and the north-facing elevations show it first.
Beach Haven Crest is where the island's small-lot pattern is at its tightest, and side clearance is the thing that actually shapes a quote here. It is common for a house to have one elevation that a rig can reach and three that have to be worked by hand down a gap of a few feet, and the labour difference between those two situations is most of the price. That same closeness is why the section stays damp: the houses shade each other, air does not move between them, and north-facing vinyl greens over reliably every summer. It is also a section where a lot of homes were replaced in the eighties and nineties, so vinyl of that generation is common — chalked, sometimes brittle, and unforgiving of pressure that newer siding would shrug off. The newer elevated rebuilds squeezed onto the same lots make it tighter still, and their added height means ladder work in a space with nowhere to foot a ladder.

Because so much of the section was replaced in the 1980s and 1990s, chalked older-generation vinyl is common — it will not take the pressure that newer siding tolerates, and it is the surface most often damaged by a contractor working too fast.
Long Beach Township Construction Office handles permitting. Straight washing usually needs no permit, but any sealing or staining is home improvement under New Jersey law and needs a currently registered contractor.
